Expecting parents make 'bucket list' for unborn baby expected to have brief life

PHILADELPHIA -- Two expecting parents have created a bucket list for their unborn baby who has a fatal brain defect.

Jenna and Dan Haley’s unborn son, Shane, was diagnosed with anencephaly, WPVI-TV reports. The condition causes babies to be born without parts of their brain and skull.

Many babies with anencephaly die soon after they are born, so the Haleys decided to create a bucket list for baby Shane.

The couple created a list of places and activities they love and wanted to share with their son -- and fulfilled as many as they possibly could during Jenna’s pregnancy.

They created a page on Facebook named “Prayers for Shane” and have been updating their family and friends on their adventures. As of today, the page has more than 160,000 followers.

The Haley’s completed baby Shane’s bucket list on September 6.

Shane is due on October 12.

“We truly value every minute that we have with our son,” Dan Haley said, “and we thank God every night for blessing us with such a special little boy.”

Here is what was on Shane’s bucket list:
