Eastbound I-90 over Snoqualmie Pass reopens after series of closures

SNOQUALMIE PASS – The eastbound lanes of I-90 at milepost 47 near Denny Creek reopened at about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday after being closed due to multiple spin-outs, the Washington State Department of Transportation announced.

The highway closed at about 8:15 p.m. Tuesday due to the spin-outs and reopened again at about 9:30 p.m.

WSDOT said chains are required in both directions, except for vehicles with All-Wheel Drive.

Earlier Tuesday afternoon, eastbound I-90 was closed for about two hours  for  avalanche control over Snoqualmie Pass. And it closed early Tuesday morning after multiple spin-outs.

WSDOT tweeted that drivers might want to postpone their trip over the pass until Thursday.

Closures and restrictions are expected all week as heavy snow continues to hammer the Cascades.
