Driver killed in crash after police pursuit identified; 'stolen' car belonged to man's parents

SNOHOMISH, Wash. (AP) — The Snohomish County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the 18-year-old driver who died when a police pursuit ended in a fiery crash.

Pierce Milton, of Everett, died in Monday's crash. His death was ruled an accident.

Everett Police spokesman Aaron Snell said Wednesday the two sheriff's deputies and one Mill Creek police officer involved in the incident have been put on paid administrative leave.

Milton was driving the 1994 BMW that was said to have been stolen when he was pursued at about 9 p.m. Monday. The car drove across Highway 9 and went off the road. Detectives investigating the crash determined that the car belonged to Milton's parents.

The car caught fire and, despite attempts to rescue the driver, Milton died at the scene.
