Driver crashes into utility pole while fleeing police in Bothell



BOTHELL, Wash. -- Police shut down Maltby Road on Tuesday after a driver crashed into a utility pole while fleeing an officer.

According to Bothell police, the suspect was driving into oncoming traffic when he spotted a patrol car. The suspect took off before the officer had even turned on the patrol car's lights and sirens.

Police caught up with the vehicle and found it had collided with a utility pole.

The two people in the car did not suffer any serious injuries. Both of them were detained at the scene.

Bothell police said the man had outstanding warrants for his arrest.

As of noon, Maltby Road was closed between 23rd and 39th Ave SE.

Snohomish County PUD was at the scene working to replace the utility pole. Authorities will open one lane of the road as soon as safely possible.
