Deputies spot stolen car, recover stolen war medals and guns from gang member

PIERCE COUNTY, Wash. -- Deputies recovered stolen property, including war medals, from an admitted gang member in a stolen car.

According to the Pierce County Sheriff's Department, the 25-year-old driver told deputies he knew the car was stolen and full of stolen property including guns.

He was arrested for possession of stolen property. He was also booked into jail for unlawful possession of a firearm because he is a convicted felon.

The passenger, a 26-year-old woman, told deputies that they were saving her life by taking her to jail because she has a heroin addiction and needs help.

Authorities towed the car and obtained a search warrant. That's when they discovered property stolen from a soldier's home including passports, military IDs, financial documents, collectible coins, guns, war medals, checks, credit cards, watches, jewelry, ammunition and various other military equipment.
