Deputies investigating homicide in Graham, suspect in custody

Pierce County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a murder in Graham early Sunday morning.

Deputies were called to a shooting on Kapowsin Highway at 2:50 a.m. When they arrived, they identified a 28-year-old man with gunshot wounds and about 20 people standing around him. Deputies attempted life-saving measures but the man died.

Witnesses told deputies that an argument between him and another man escalated into a shooting, and the suspect had gone into a house nearby.

A 39-year-old man was arrested and booked into the Pierce County Jail for second-degree murder.

Kapowsin Highway is closed near Hanson Road while the sheriff's office investigates.

This is a developing story.
