Cute: Young Eastside students send more than 2,000 Valentine's cards to veterans

SEATTLE -- It was a special Valentine's Day for veterans at Seattle's VA Center Friday.

They got nearly 2,000 handmade cards from Eastside kids.

"I can't say anything more but thank you. These are great," one veteran said.

The VA staff said it shows how the community -- and especially the kids -- think highly of the men and women who served our country.

"It's amazing 10-year-olds, 9-year-olds, that they're so aware and, like you say, so appreciative of what little we were able to do -- and happy to do," veteran Randy Orth said.

This was the first year for the special delivery, and there were so many cards that the Seattle VA will share them with other facilities.
