Court documents: Auburn man said he accidentally shot woman, then dumped body in Kent

KENT, Wash. -- Police said a 30-year-old Auburn man admitted to shooting a woman in the neck in an apartment in Auburn and dumping her body in Kent, but said the gun went off accidentally, court documents showed Thursday.

Francisco J. Escobedo, who was arrested Wednesday, was booked into the King County Jail on suspicion of second-degree murder and unlawful possession of a firearm.

According to the probable cause documents, a witness told police that Escobedo got into an argument with an adult female in an Auburn apartment at 3312 I St. NE on Tuesday. The witness told officers Escobedo pulled out a handgun, pointed at the victim and shot her in the neck. The witness said the woman fell down against the wall and was believed dead. Escobedo and others left.

A couple of hours later, the body of the victim was found along a road in Kent and she was pronounced dead by medics.

According to the court documents, Escobedo admitted to police officers he was holding the gun at the time it fired and that a bullet hit the victim, "although he claims the gun went off accidentally. Escobedo admits taking the victim in his vehicle, and dumping her body in Kent."

Police said Escobedo was previously convicted of a felony in California.
