Convicted bank robber files claim against Snohomish County, says he was injured in arrest

EVERETT, Wash. (AP) — A convicted bank robber has filed a legal claim against Snohomish County in connection to injuries he sustained during his 2012 arrest.

The Everett Daily Herald reports that Clallam Bay Corrections Center inmate Todd Kirkpatrick filed the legal claim asking for $6.3 million. A claim is a precursor to a lawsuit.

Kirkpatrick was robbing a KeyBank in Stanwood in September 2012 when he saw Deputy Dan Scott and tried to flee. The deputy chased Kirkpatrick and shot him twice. He was convicted of four bank robberies and sentenced to 17 years in prison.

In the claim, Kirkpatrick says his medical bills from the gunshot wounds amounted to more than $300,000.
