Coast Guard recovers body near Coos Bay, Ore.; search suspended for 2 other fishermen

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — The search for two men still missing after a fishing boat struck a jetty near Coos Bay has been suspended, the Coast Guard announced Wednesday night.

U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer 3rd Class Jonathan Klingenberg said crews completed a search by helicopter and boat Wednesday afternoon that covered the area around the crash site near the entrance to Coos Bay, Oregon.

They recovered the body of a third crew member early Wednesday and found the crabbing vessel's radio beacon.

The ship's captain survived the mishap, reaching the shore Tuesday evening.

Klingenberg says the search could be restarted if authorities receive new information or reports in the case.
