Climber who died in fall on Mount Rainier identified as local man



MOUNT RAINIER NATIONAL PARK, Wash. (AP) — Officials with the Pierce County Medical Examiner's Office have identified the climber who suffered a fatal fall in Mount Rainier National Park over the weekend.

The News Tribune of Tacoma reports (http://goo.gl/SxH2xx ) the climber was 62-year-old Timothy Hagan of Bellevue.

Park spokeswoman Fawn Bauer said Hagan fell Sunday while descending one of two summits of Sluiskin Mountain, a 7,026-foot peak in the northern part of the park. People with him at the time hiked more than 13 miles to report the accident.

Hagan's body was recovered Tuesday.

Hagan had notable ascents including the tallest mountains in Mexico and Ecuador.
