City renames street after Sonics legend Lenny Wilkens

The city of Seattle is honoring SuperSonics legend Lenny Wilkens by renaming a street near the Seattle Center.

On Thursday afternoon, the city is renamed Thomas Street to Lenny Wilkens Way and the city unveiled the new name during a ceremony Thursday afternoon.

Wilkens, along with Mayor Jenny Durkan, NBA player Jamal Crawford, Kraken CEO Tod Leiweke and former Settle Seahawk Jordan Babineaux were at the event.

"Lenny Wilkens is a local hero for his years on the court as a player & coach for #SeattleSonics as well as his philanthropy & countless contributions to our community off the court. I am incredibly proud to rename Thomas Street as #LennyWilkensWay in honor of one of the greats," Durkan tweeted.
