Businesses damaged by fire at Puyallup shopping center

PUYALLUP, Wash. -- Two businesses sustained heavy damage after a fire broke out Tuesday night at a shopping center in Puyallup.

It happened at Valley Plaza shopping center in the area of E. Main Avenue and 15th Street SE.

There are at least eight businesses in the shopping center, but the fire was contained to two  businesses -- a shoe repair shop and a dry cleaner -- thanks to quick thinking by responding firefighters.

Firefighters remained on scene early Wednesday, making sure all hot spots were out and investigating what could have caused the blaze.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. No injuries were reported.
