Body of missing boater found in Spokane lake

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — The Spokane County Sheriff's Office has located the body of a boater who was reported missing on Newman Lake.

Deputies were told that two men were in an 8-foot aluminum boat without life jackets at about 10 p.m. Monday when it turned over and sent both men into the water.

One of the men made it to shore, but the other did not. He was not believed to be a strong swimmer and as of Tuesday morning, he had not been seen.

The Sheriff's Marine Unit and dive team found the victim Tuesday afternoon in the area of the accident.

The man has not been identified.
