Bicyclist killed in hit-and-run in Everett, police say; suspect later arrested

EVERETT -- A man on a bicycle was killed by a hit-and-run driver Thursday night on 19th Avenue near 126th, police said. A man was later arrested and his pickup truck impounded for investigation.

Everett police spokesman Aaron Snell said the accident occurred at about 6:30 p.m.  When officers arrived, they found the bicyclist dead.

Witnesses provided information that led officers to arrest an Everett man believed to be the driver of the truck at 112th Street and Silver Lake Road. He was taken to Providence Medical Center Everett and is expected to be booked into the Snohomish County Jail for vehicular homicide, he said.

Snell said both the bicyclist and the driver are adult males.  No identities were immediately released.
