Baby dies after being tossed from 6th-floor window, cops say

NEW YORK (AP) — Authorities say a 6-month-old girl has died after being tossed from the window of a New York City apartment building, the third child thrown to her death in the city in recent months.

The New York Police Department says the baby died Thursday afternoon after being tossed from a sixth-floor apartment in the Fordham Heights neighborhood of the Bronx.

A 27-year-old woman believed to be the child's mother was in the apartment with four children at the time.

The three other children were taken to a hospital. They were not injured.

Police say the woman was taken to the hospital for an evaluation. No charges have been filed.

This is the third death of a child tossed from a New York apartment since August.
