'Anti-rape' clothing campagin gains traction

NEW YORK -- A new clothing trend is gaining popularity online.

AR Wear is using crowdsourcing website Indiegogo to fund a line of clothing creators call "anti-rape wear."

They hope to develop underwear, running shorts and "traveling shorts" that are comfortable -- and unnoticeable -- that help women feel safer while they're traveling, on a blind date, running alone or going to a bar or club.

The clothes would be "resistant to pulling, tearing and cutting," according to the site. They are difficult for another person to remove, which is important if the victim is drugged or sleeping and can't protect herself.

AR Wear has already raised more than $32,000 for the line and has until Nov. 22 to reach its goal of $50,000 on Indiegogo.
