2 of 3 Kennewick teens to be tried as adults in kidnapping of grandmother
KENNEWICK, Wash. (AP) -- A Benton County judge has ruled that a 15-year-old teen allegedly involved in the kidnapping an 86-year-old woman will be tried as an adult in the case.
The Tri-City Herald reports (http://goo.gl/TJNU0n) Judge Robert Swisher made the decision Wednesday. The boy, Billy Underwood, has been charged with aggravated kidnapping, burglary and theft in the Nov. 2 incident.
A 16-year-old boy, Dylan Martin, also faces the same charges as an adult. A 14-year-old girl faces those charges in juvenile court.
Court documents say the teens kidnapped Martin's great-grandmother, Hazel Louis Abel, at her Kennewick home, stuffed her in the trunk of her car and drove more than 200 miles to a Walmart near Portland. While stopped, Abel was able to escape the trunk and get help.
