13 people shot, wounded at Connecticut house party

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) — Police in Connecticut are investigating what they say was an unusual outburst of violence in Bridgeport when 13 people were shot and wounded at a house party.

Bridgeport police believe two shooters opened fire on about 100 partygoers from behind some hedges surrounding the home's backyard. It happened around 1:30 a.m. Sunday.

Eleven men and two women were shot and taken to hospitals.

Police say none of the injuries is considered life-threatening but one woman remains in critical condition.

Capt. Brian Fitzgerald says evidence suggests the people who threw the party were charging for alcohol. He says they may face criminal charges.

Police have not identified a motive and are investigating whether the suspects were partygoers who "got upset."

Authorities are asking that anyone with information contact the Bridgeport police.
