Manhunt Over For Suspect Accused Of Murdering A Seattle Woman And Her Baby, Arrested In California
SEATTLE - The manhunt is finally over for a suspect accused of shooting his girlfriend and their 13-week-old daughter.

Daniel Hicks was arrested Monday without incident in Santa Cruz, California.

Santa Cruz Police say they were alerted to a possible location of the suspect from a tip that resulted from a phone trace.

Hicks remained cooperative while being taken into custody at gunpoint by Santa Cruz Police Officers. Hicks told police he knew why he was being arrested and that he was "a bad person".

Santa Cruz Police completed an exhaustive search for Mr. Hicks' associated vehicle (2006 Chevy Pickup White Lic# A68135Z). The vehicle later turned up in Weed, CA where it was impounded.

Last Thursday, the King County Prosecutor's Office filed two counts of aggravated murder in the first degree against Hicks.

- Charges carry possibility of death sentence.

The bodies of 28 year-old Jennifer Morgan and her infant daughter, Emma, were found by Morgan's mother in the home they shared last Tuesday. Renee Morgan told police her daughter was planning to ask Hicks to move out and that Hicks' behavior had become erratic.

She said Jennifer believed Hicks was upset the baby was not a boy.

Twenty-one shell casings were found at the murder scene. Police believe Hicks had to reload several times. Charging papers reveal both victims were shot multiple times in the upper body.

A note addressed to Hicks' brother was also found at the scene, in which Hicks claimed to be "Sick like Grandpa". In 1983 Hicks' grandfather killed his wife and then himself.

No other details about his arrest have been released.
