It could be a rough month for drivers who use 520. The DOT plans to close the highway twenty times during the month of December.
The Washington Department of Transportation says the construction closures will be in an area between Lake Washington and Redmond and they will all happen at night.
Still, night-time shoppers could get caught by the detours.
The DOT says there are three major projects planned for the heavily traveled highway, including a freeway overpass being built in Redmond.
Closure schedule:
Rolling slowdowns: 12 - 4 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 1 - Thursday Dec. 3: East and westbound SR 520 between just east of the Evergreen Point Bridge to I-405.
Full closures: 10:30 p.m. - 5 a.m. Friday, Dec. 4 - Tuesday, Dec. 22: Either east or westbound SR 520 between 148th Avenue NE and NE 40th Street.
Full closures: 11:30 p.m. - 4 a.m., Sunday, Dec. 6 - Thursday, Dec. 10: One full closure on eastbound SR 520 at I-405 in Bellevue and three nights of full closures on westbound SR 520 between I-405 and 130th Avenue NE in Redmond.
Single lane and ramp closures: 10 p.m. - 5 a.m., Monday, Nov. 30 - Wednesday, Dec. 23: East and westbound SR 520 from West Lake Sammamish Pkwy to SR 202 in Redmond.
