Tacoma - The family of a Ft. Lewis soldier has more questions than usual about the death of their loved one in Iraq and they want the military to start providing answers.

Staff Sgt. Amy Tirador was killed on November 4, 2009 at a military base in Kirkuk. Her family just learned she was shot in the back of the head.

"It's all high clearance on base, but there are still people other than American soldiers in and out of there," says mother Colleen Murphy.

Sgt. Tirador and her husband were both members of the military, serving 10 and 17 years respectively. Tirador was a member of Ft. Lewis' Third Brigade, working in intelligence as an interrogator.

"He was looking forward to getting home and him and Amy starting a family together," says Spanaway neighbor Gabe Valdez.

The soldier's family now waits for answers and justice for their fallen hero.

"This was not an accident. If it's friendly fire or not, to me it does not make any difference as long as that person is caught," says Murphy.

Murphy expects to get an update from the military about her daughter's investigation on Tuesday, December 1, 2009. We will be sure to follow up with her and bring you that information as soon as we get it.
