SEATTLE -
A popular Seattle neighborhood is rocked by a random act of violence after cops say a woman was brutally stabbed on a sidewalk. The attack happened on Holman Road in North Seattle as the victim was walking from work to a bus stop.
Seattle Police are still looking for the attacker while the victim is recovering from her wounds. 26 year old Shayna Schuster spoke exclusively with Q13 Fox News about surviving the brazen assault. "He had his right hand around me and he took his left and stabbed me," said Schuster.
The 26 year old Schuster says she's still trying to figure out why a man she'd never met stabbed her twice in the back.
"It's so weird, I don't know what this guy was doing," said Schuster.
Shayna says she had just left this convenience store across from Dick's Drive In on Holman Road around 7PM Sunday and was headed to her bus stop.
"I was walking down the road for a block and I could tell he was following me pretty close behind," said Schuster.
She sensed danger and tried running across the street to a gas station but traffic stopped her.
"Right before I could cross the street or get to that crosswalk, he like grabbed me like this, his left hand like this and stabbed something into me," said Schuster.
At first Shayna thought it was a needle. It wasn't until a driver stopped to help that she realized it was more serious.
"Like I didn't even know, because it totally didn't hurt that bad. I lifted up and showed her and my hand was just bloody," said Schuster.
Shayna says the man never tried taking her bag, never said a word. He simply stabbed her and walked away. Seattle Police Officer Renee Witt says investigators are baffled.
"So, we don't have a motive, we think this is a random act," said Witt.
Schuster's friend Jeremy Ward is outraged over the attack.
"He stabbed her in the back with a knife, that's great, I'm really pissed off," said Ward.
Still, despite what happened to her Shayna does feel lucky.
"One of them came close to hitting an artery I guess. I had to get a cat-scan it was crazy I'm just glad that it's over," said Schuster. The Crown Hill attacker is described as a white man in his mid 30's, about 5'9'' to 5'11' tall with a heavy build. He has brownish-blonde hair and blue eyes. The suspect was wearing a dark jacket with a hood, jeans, and a backpack.
If you have any information about the suspect call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
