Snohomish County Man May Have Shot And Killed Burglar
SEATTLE - A 38-year-old Snohomish County man was arrested Wednesday night on a murder charge after the body of a supposed burglar was found in a nearby field.

Police say he may have shot and killed an alleged burglar.

Detectives say the homeowner called 911 on Monday to report a burglary in the 228th block of 37th Ave. NE in Arlington. He said he had returned home to find the burglary suspect running out of his house.

Police searched the area but found nothing. The homeowner turned homicide suspect called 911 a few hours later to say he'd seen the burglar again in the field near his home and yelled at him, but the man ran off.

On Wednesday a neighbor in the same area called 911 and reported finding a body in a small creek that runs through a field on his property in the 23400 block of 35th Ave. NE. The body was that of a white male, believed to be in his 20s.

During the course of the investigation Wednesday, detectives learned that neighbors heard gunshots Monday afternoon shortly before the homeowner had called 911 the second time.

The victim found in the field is a 25-year-old Snohomish County man. The Snohomish County Medical Examiner examined the body at the scene and discovered what appeared to be a gunshot wound. He also found jewelry that appeared to be consistent with what was stolen in Monday's burglary.
