Mill Creek -
A horrible crash in Snohomish County has taken two lives and injured two others.
Two young men were killed and two others were clinging to life early Saturday after their car smashed into a tree about a mile north of Lynnwood High School, on North Road, near Mill Creek.
The four men, ages 20 to 22, are from the Lynnwood area, Snohomish County Sheriff's Lieutenant Stephen Dittoe said.
Killed in the crash were two friends, Ehlo Blacknall land Brandon Norton.
Damage to the vehicle was massive. It took firefighters 15 minutes to cut one injured man free of the wrecked car, Hynes said.
Norton had aspirations to one day play soccer professionally.
"Brandon was just a ball of life," said his mother, Laurie O'Donnell as she fought back tears at the crash site. "Loved soccer like there's no tomorrow. Wanted to play pro. He made a semi-pro team, so he was pretty close to living his dream in life."
She said Brandon and one of the injured, Trevor Moore, had known each other since around the 2nd grade and grew up together.
"Grown up together, forever, through thick and thin," Brandon's mother said.
She added that Brandon had known the other man killed, Ehlo Blacknall, for about four years -- and had helped Ehlo through some tough times.
"Brandon having a big huge heart, was one of those welcoming when Ehlo lost his dad a few years ago," she said.
Detectives from the sheriff's Collision Investigation Unit were investigating the crash, Dittoe said.
They determined that the car was northbound when it failed to negotiate a turn and left the road at 70 to 80 mph. The speed limit in the area is 35 mph. The turn is posted at 25 mph. Dittoe said alcohol also may have been a factor in the crash.
The two survivors were transported to Harborview.
There was massive damage to the car and it took firefighters an one and a half hours to cut the men from the vehicle.
