Officer Brenton Memorial Details
Seattle - Members of the Seattle Police Officer's Guild held an Honor Guard memorial at the site of Officer Tim Brenton's memorial.

A wreath was laid in front of the memorial, and officers say it has a special meaning.

"The circle symbolizes the police family. We are a family in law enforcement and when one is taken from us it affects us all," says Rich O'Neill of the SPOG.

On Friday, November 6, 2009 at least a thousand police officers from departments all over will line up for a three hour processional. It starts at 9:00 AM at Husky Stadium at the University of Washington and continues south on Montlake Boulevard through Capitol Hill. The procession then turns southwest on Madison to Pine, then north on Broadway to Denny. The final turn will be on 1st Ave. N to Key Arena where the public memorial service will start at 1:00 PM.

"The service is split into three parts. The opening sequence is ceremonial where units will come to post and the pipers will be playing through," says Brian Johnston with the Behind the Badge Foundation.

A flag will be folded and presented to Officer Brenton's wife and there will be a 21 gun salute, all to honor an officer described as a brave man with a gentle spirit.

"He was not only a courageous officer; he loved being a police officer," says O'Neill. "There's not a bad word to be said. He was a great human being."

During the procession, people are invited to line up and stand along the route. The service Friday at Key Arena is open to the public, and the doors will open at 11 AM. You do not need a ticket to get inside.
