West Nile Virus Claims First Life In Our State
Our state has its first West Nile Virus death.

The State Department of Health says 71 year old Ruth Rogers of Sunnyside died from the virus last month.

Rogers' husband says his wife got sick after a trip to Denver at the beginning of September.

The Health Department says Washington has had 31 other cases of West Nile this year. That's up from three cases last year.

Rogers is the only person in our state to die from the virus.
