One crazed raccoon clawed and bit a Seattle man dozens of times while the man was saving his dog.

Ian Mcalister spoke exclusively with Q13 FOX News about the attack. "These are mainly bites on my hands and then my feet, there's some bites and scratches," said Mcalister.

From looking at his wounds you'd think that Mcalister had gotten into a fight with a ferocious predator but it was a blood thirsty raccoon that wanted his dog for breakfast.

"He jumped down right off the wall and charged the dog and they were rolling around on the ground," said Mcalister.

Ian says he dove in to save his little dog, Sam, from being gobbled up by the raccoon.

"I just reached down and started strangling the raccoon trying to pry it off, you know they hold on like aliens or something," said Mcalister.

Ian says this raccoon attacked three separate times -- once in his backyard, a second time in the neighbor's yard, and again on a nearby staircase.

"I wrestled it off this time, pried it off, picked it up over my head and slammed it down on the steps. I kept thinking the whole time this would be it," said Mcalister.

Ian says the raccoon bit and clawed him at least 40 times on his arms, hands, legs, and feet. And it wasn't done with him yet.

"This time, the raccoon jumped at me. I caught it in mid-air, punched it a few times, and again slammed it down on the ground," said Mcalister.

Finally defeated, the raccoon limped off.

Sam suffered serious injuries and was taken to the vet for treatment. Ian headed to the hospital to begin a series of nearly 30 rabies shots in case the raccoon was infected. He says he has no regrets about his battle with the raccoon.

"It was quite the ordeal, but I knew I needed to save the dog," said Mcalister.

Ian says his vet told him there have been similar raccoon attacks on pets in the Capitol Hill, Queen Anne and Magnolia areas.

The good news is Sam and Ian are expected to make full recoveries.
