With the state of the economy, it's tough for anyone to find a job. But imagine if you were also dealing with a disability.A Bellevue non-profit group, "At Work!" is helping bridge the gap, by pairing up disabled clients with rewarding jobs in the Seattle area.
Thad Demuth is one "At Work!" client who was hired at the "Kozy Kennels" in Redmond. His boss says he is one of his best employees.
"He is always on time never has a problem, if he's sick he's sick," says Shane Owens.
Demuth was born with a developmental disability that affects his speech and mobility. He tried to get jobs in the past, but had no luck until he found "At Work!".
"After they graduated high school a lot of disabled people were going back home and sitting on couch watching TV and their talents and skills were being wasted," says CEO Christina Brandt.
There are currently 75 "At Work!" clients employed at various companies around the community, and another 60 in training. Participating companies employing clients in clued Costco and the Oberto Sausage Company.
