Lake Washington School District Buses Safer And Greener
Kirkland - For the 9,000 students who ride the school bus in the Lake Washington School District, their daily ride to school just got safer and greener.

This year, the district is launching an electronic pre-trip and student check system to make sure no students are left on the bus. Also, there is a new "Zonar" vehicle inspection system that ensures the buses are in good working order before and after each trip.

All of the buses will also be equipped with GPS tracking as well. The Transportation Manager can review buses en route in real time, manage idle time and reduce wasted fuel and emissions.

The district has also upgraded a third of its diesel buses to meet 2007 emissions standards.
