WASHINGTON, D.C. -
The House has passed new legislation on airplane safety and it all stems from a crash involving a local pilot.
The move is a response to the deadly plane crash near Buffalo, New York last year.
One of the pilots flying the plane was a woman from Maple Valley.
The House Bill forces airlines to hire more experienced pilots, investigate their previous employment more thoroughly and train them better.
It also requires the FAA to rewrite rules on pilot work schedules.
