MASON COUNTY —
A father and his son from Burien died in a plane crash Thursday afternoon in Mason County about ten miles west of Shelton.
Family members identify the men as 54 year old Mark Storer and his 24 year old son Brian Storer.
Jared Storer lost his father and brother in the crash. He told Q13 Fox News that the loss has devastated the family.
He says; "There's no way to prepare for it, I mean we all know when you lose a family member that's sudden like this, there's no way to prepare for it, makes it hard to know what to do next."
A Mason County sheriff's spokesman says the two men were aboard a small float plane that crashed into a wooded area after taking off from Lake Nahwatzel.
Witnesses say the plane appeared to have engine trouble and appeared to have aborted two or three takeoffs before it finally lifted off then crashed about two hundred yards from the lake.
The crash ignited a small wildfire that firefighters contained to about three acres.
The N-T-S-B will investigate to try and determine what happened and why.
