NEW DETAILS: Deadly Shooting by a King County Deputy
WOODINVILLE - A man was shot and killed by a Sheriff's deputy Saturday night after responding to a domestic violence call in Woodinville.

Deputies say the 9-1-1 call came in about 8:40 PM from a residence in the 16000 block of NE Woodinville-Duvall Road.

Call receivers heard a woman screaming and crying the background. A man's voice could also be heard.

Shortly thereafter they heard the woman say "I need the police", and then an open phone line.

The first deputy arrived about five minutes after the call and spoke to the woman. She had injuries from an assault, and pointed out the suspect who by this time was walking away from the house.

The second deputy arrived a few minutes later.

The suspect returned to the area and sat down on the back porch of the house, holding a knife. He had apparent self-inflicted wounds on his arms. He was shot and killed shortly thereafter. The man was 59 years old.

The Sheriff's Office investigation is continuing.

The name of the deputy, his age and time with the Sheriff's Office has not been released.
