TACOMA—
A house fire in Tacoma early this morning has left a firefighter was slightly hurt and a home badly damaged. The blaze broke out this morning at a home near North 43rd and Orchard Street in north Tacoma. The flames started in a garage, then spread to the back of the house, a nearby tree, and a neighbor's garage.
One firefighter was slightly hurt, when he slipped and fell inside the house.
Fellow firefighters place him on a stretcher and he was taken to a local hospital, but not seriously hurt.
The home's owner told fire crews he had ammunition stored in the garage, and that made fighting the blaze a little more difficult.
Firefighters are still trying to determine the cause.
There were no other injuries to occupants of the home.
