Victim's Friend Says Ft. Lewis Soldier Did Not Provide The Fatal Drugs
FORT LEWIS - The 16-year-old girl who survived a drug overdose from the same combination of pills that killed her teenage friend says the victim was the one who brought them to the Fort Lewis barrack.

The girl testified Thursday at Private Timothy E. Bennitt's Article 32 hearing, as the Army determines whether there's enough evidence to court-martial the 19-year-old soldier. He is charged with involuntary manslaughter.

In February, Leah King, 16, was found dead after overdosing on a combination of prescription drugs.

The Tacoma News Tribune reports the friend said King was the one who brought the drugs to the post.

Bennitt, of Rolling Prairie, Ind., also faces charges of wrongful use and distribution of controlled substances, and conspiracy to use controlled substances. He could face 82 years in a military prison if convicted.
