A 19 year old Special Olympian wins a silver medal and the next day she is savagely attacked near her Seattle home. The victim says the suspects yelled racial slurs and demeaning words while beating her.Hannah Geiger spoke exclusively with Q13 Fox News.
"There is three over here and that's practically where they hit me," said Geiger.
Geiger would much rather show off her medals instead of deep bruises on her body.
"My back hurts from being kicked in the spine," said Geiger.
Monday afternoon Geiger found herself the target of an unprovoked violent attack in Magnolia.
"They kicked me and hit me, they hit me in the face where these 3 bruises are, they got me almost all over," said Geiger.
Hannah says she was walking to the Magnolia Community Center about two and a half blocks from her house, when the suspects jumped her. Her mother Ruth Geiger believes the two men that attacked her daughter had hate in their hearts.
"I'm sure it's a hate crime and that's what gets to me I don't understand hate," said Geiger.
Ruth Geirger preaches love and compassion as the Pastor at Magnolia United Methodist Church. She can't figure out why anyone would want to harm her special needs daughter.
"It's hard for me to understand why somebody would do something to someone, anyone, but certainly someone who is as wonderful as she is," said Geiger.
Ruth adopted Hannah from Haiti as an infant with serious medical problems. But, she's overcome many of those ailments except a seizure disorder that requires brain surgery this summer. Ruth just learned she has breast cancer. Although, the hateful words the men said to her daughter have caused her even more pain.
"They were racial slurs and slurs about her mental capacity calling her stupid," said Geiger.
Hannah has won 16 medals at the Special Olympics for the standing broad jump, and 50 and 100 meter races. All she wants to do is have fun and compete as an athlete. She has one simple question for the men who tried taking away all of her glory.
"All I would do is ask why," said Geiger.
Hannah says her attackers were white men in their late teens or 20's with blonde hair. They were possibly driving a Honda.
