EVERETT - The Snohomish County Prosecutor's Office released video Thursday of last January's raid of a suspected puppy mill near Gold Bar. A judge ruled that the video, shot by Snohomish County authorities, could be released.

Attorney Gabe Rothstein represents one of the defendants. He argued that the video should not be released and worried about a tainted jury pool. Rothstein says he respects the judge's decision. Rothstein says he just wants his client to get a fair trial.

Authorities say deputies found 155 dogs, four cats and three parrots living in horrible conditions. The dogs mostly include Yorkies, poodles and chihuahuas.

The video shows several dead puppies in a freezer, along with dozens of dogs and puppies living in different rooms, cages and pens around the home. The video also shows supplies and other items scattered around the house.

Authorities also found the remains of one dog elsewhere at the residence. They say they also found crates and pens filled with large amounts of feces and heavily soiled shavings, along with medications and used syringes to treat sick animals scattered in front of pens and in a refrigerator. Authorities say many of the dogs were heavily matted covered with feces and saturated with urine and had other health problems.

Many of the dogs have been adopted while others remain in foster care.

The couple accused in the puppy mill investigation face first degree felony animal cruelty charges. The trial begins in July.

Authorities say the investigation has also expanded to a Skagit County area kennel where more than 400-dogs were seized. A Snohomish kennel is also under investigation.
