Police and Paramedics Respond After A Car Plunges Into Puget Sound At Alki Ave. (May 26, 2009)
West Seattle -
Seattle police are continuing to investigate a crash off Alki in West Seattle early Tuesday.
Police say the 1991 Porsche 911 careened off of Harbor Ave SW, likely at a high rate of speed and plunged into the water off of Alki at about 2:30am.
The 54-year-old driver was the only person inside the car and he did not suffer serious injuries.
The car also hit a light pole as it veered off the road. The pole fell into Elliott Bay along with the car and driver.
Investigators believe drugs and or alcohol in addition to speed may have contributed to the collision. Charges against the driver are pending toxicology results.
