NEAR NORTH BEND - The Washington State Patrol has reopened the eastbound lanes of Interstate 90 at Snoqualmie Pass almost six hours after a large boulder crashed onto the roadway.

Officials say the several hundred pound boulder fell off the hillside just before 2 a.m. Tuesday about five miles west of the summit.

A semi-truck driver going eastbound collided with the boulder, forcing the truck up onto a jersey barrier, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The driver was injured and transported to Harborview Medical Center.

A worker for the DOT climbed 300 feet up the slope this morning to make sure the stability of the slope was safe.

Westbound lanes were not affected by the eastbound closure.
