SEATTLE—
For the second time in two weeks, a Seattle gas station has been robbed, and it was all caught on camera. You can see the surveillance video from both robberies at Ric's Automotive and Shell station on West Government Way in Magnolia by clicking above.
The first half shows a robbery from Sunday night where the robber breaks into a window and appears to be stealing items like candy. On the getaway though, he drops his bag of loot, and has to scurry back for it.
The second half of the video is from surveillance gathered almost two weeks ago, where again the burglars broke in a window and took loot.
A worker at the station who did not want to be identified says most of the neighborhood has been having the same problem.
"Customers houses have been broken into three times in a month," he said, "stealing cars, stealing televisions, and stealing cigarettes and cash."
He says from what he can tell from the video, the crooks are kids, and amateurs, and that's why they could be dangerous.
"The unprofessional ones don't know what to do, they might just stab someone with a knife or shoot something, " he said, "so we need to get these kids off the street as soon as we can."
He says homes in the neighborhood were being broken into during the day two months ago, but now he says, it's been mostly on the weekends.
Whether it's a car, business, or a home, he says they always are on foot, they are always wearing the same clothes, and they always break through a window to gain access.
Seattle police aren't saying whether they are linking the neighborhood burglaries, with the gas station ones.
If you have any information at all, or recognize the people in the surveillance video, call Seattle police or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
