SeaTac auto shop fire that caused heavy black smoke put out

Heavy black smoke was seen in the air near SeaTac due to a fire at an auto detail shop on International Boulevard.

The name of the business is Guru Auto Tech. The family who owns the shop said all of the employees got out of the shop safely.

Onlookers were stunned by the flames.

"My driver happens to come in and he says Guru is on fire. I was like what?! I happened to turn around and look out the window and I see red, orange flames. I walked over and looked out the emergency window and it’s just completely covered. Could not make anything out," said Chrissy Dain, the manager at O'Reilly Auto Parts across the street.

"Talking to people around here, a customer walked by he said he had just dropped his car off here a few minutes before the fire started so it’s pretty unfortunate. A lot of stuff can happen at a shop," said John Meredith, Assistant Manager at O'Reilly Auto Parts.

It took crews about an hour to put the fire out, and several more hours to hose down hot spots. No firefighters were injured and there are no air quality concerns at this time.

A spokesperson with Puget Sound Fire said the building will remain under fire watch overnight, then investigators will begin looking into a cause on Wednesday morning.

No other buildings were impacted.
