SEATTLE -
A young woman goes missing after friends leave her at a bar.
Police think she's dead but her body has never been found.
Snohomish County Sheriff Detective Jim Scharf says, "What happened to her is a total mystery."
The case of 22-year-old Tracey Brazzell of Mill Creeks is technically a missing persons case. Investigators believe she's dead.
"We believe something bad happened to her. She was probably killed and her body was taken." says Det. Scharf.
No one has seen Tracey since May 26, 1995. Her mom remembers the last time she saw her daughter.
Tracey's mom, Peggy Brady, says, "The last time that I saw her was at the salon. We did our normal hug and I love you when I left and that was the last time I spoke or heard from her."
Tracey worked as a hair dresser at 'Great Clips Salon.' She left work Friday at noon and went out with friends later that night.
She was playing darts and a driving game at Kodiak Ron's in Mill Creek. That was the last time she was seen.
"The two people that Tracey was with were a brother and sister and when they made last call, the brother and sister decided it was time to go but Tracey wanted to stay and drive the simulator a little bit more."
This may have been the last time anyone has seen her alive. A few days later, Tracey's car was found but with no sign of the missing woman.
She drove a white Ford Probe. She usually parked near her apartment. The fact that it was parked down the road right outside her apartment complex was unusual. When the car was found, one of the windows was smashed. The area surrounding her window was cleaned up.
Investigators believe whoever cleaned up the glass may have gone home with cuts or wounds that night.
Another bit of information that may help solve this case is that Tracey would reset her odometer every time she filled up with gas and because of that, police believe that Tracey's body may be close by.
There was only 25 miles on the trip meter. Police believe she either met someone at Kodiak Ron's and took him home with her or maybe someone followed her home.
Detectives believe that Tracey may be within 10-15 miles of where she lived. They would like anyone with property in the area to search for anyone of her belongings. Those may include a dark blue or black sweatshirt with the sleeves cut off.
She was also carrying a wallet-sized red purse. Finding any of these items could help to ultimately bring closure.
Her mom says, "Without the closure, it's just been really hard. It's just year after year with nothing."
