Violent Armed Robbery Goes Down Two Years Ago, But Now, Police Think They Finally Have Their Man

A DNA match has identified fugitive David Mapu as a suspect in a violent convenience store robbery, and detectives are hoping you can help find him.

It all went down at an Olympia 7-11 in 2007. Detectives say two men wearing masks, David Mapu being one of them, rushed into the store to steal beer, but it got way worse than that. Cops say Mapu then busted a beer bottle over the clerks head, badly hurting him. One of the suspects tried to get into the cash register, but couldn't, so they grabbed a couple of cases of beer and ran out.


Officers sent a broken bottle to the crime lab, and detectives just recently learned that DNA from skin cells left on it identified Mapu.

His DNA was already in the system because of another felony assault, and to top it all off, Mapu's also wanted by police for an armed robbery in Lacey last year.

Detectives say Mapu's a known gang associate, and was last known to be living on Lake Forest Court S.E. in Olympia, but could also be hiding out in the Tacoma area.
