Seattle - As it has been since the shooting of Officer Tim Brenton happened, the intersection of 29th and E. Yesler Way has been a place where Brenton's colleagues come to pay their respect and spend some time coming to grips with their loss.

Dozens of people from the Central District neighborhood joined those officers both to grieve and to show their support for the Seattle Police Department.

Tim Stidham stood in silence at a candlelight vigil, in stark contrast to just 48 hours ago, when he was woken up by the sound of gunfire.

"To walk up to the memorial with our flowers, you can't hold back the tears. We just feel horrible for this gentleman's family and his children. You can't understand it," says Stidham.

Pastor Rivers with the Greater Skyway Community Church was on hand at the vigil to pray with both neighbors and officers.

"Our hearts go out to Chief Metz. I see the hurt and the anguish in his face. It's hard for them to be able to grieve and still make traffic stops and support the community," says Rivers.

Pastors from all over Seattle will be at the memorial site every day until the shooter is caught.

The Seattle Police Department is also setting up a bank account so the community can show their financial support for Brenton's family. Those details haven't been finalized but when they are we will be sure to pass that information along.
