Q: Can you really get a ticket for walking on the wrong side of the road? — Ruth, Yakima
A: The law states that when practical and where no sidewalks are provided, you should walk on the left side of the road, going against traffic. This is for a number of reasons. For example, if you are on the left side of the road, you can see when cars are approaching and have the opportunity to get out of the way should a drunk driver or somebody distracted come into your portion of the roadway.
