Thanks To A Washington's Most Wanted Viewer Tip To Crime Stoppers Of Pierce County, Michael Maloy Was Arrested Friday Night By Tacoma Police - WMW's 100th Fugitive Captured

When asked about Washington's Most Wanted and our 100th capture, Sheriff Paul Pastor says, "Two things..it's both wonderful and it's right. Here's why it's wonderful. Bad guys get off the street. Here's why it's right. The safety of the community is not a one way street. it's not just people with badges on trying to enforce the law. It's people with badges on supported by people who don't have badges..it's a two way street. It's the community and it's law enforcement working together. Washington's Most Wanted has made that happen in spades. I appreciate that, I think the entire community appreciates that."

Thanks to a Washington's Most Wanted viewer tip to Crime Stoppers of Pierce County, Michael Lee Maloy was apprehended Friday night by Tacoma Police. This makes the 100th fugitive capture for Washington's Most Wanted.

Maloy was on parole at a half-way house when he disappeared on January 13, 2010. Tacoma Police followed up on the tip and went to the home where he was supposedly hiding. They had missed Maloy at that location by a day; however the home owners told the police where they had dropped Maloy off the day before. Tacoma Police found him hiding in an apartment complex and took him into custody.

A Q13 FOX viewer saw Maloy on a Washington's Most Wanted promo as he was to be featured as the #1 fugitive on last night's episode. Maloy was wanted for escape from Community Custody for a Manslaughter conviction and was classified as a violent offender by the Department of Corrections. Maloy has three felony convictions including Motor Vehicle Theft, Narcotics Possession and Manslaughter in the 2nd degree. Maloy killed his girlfriend in 2002 by hitting her in the head with a phone.

"Maloy told me he knew he hadn't reported to the Department of Corrections but didn't realize it was a big deal. When I asked him what he thought about being our 100th fugitive captured, he replied, 'Peace, love and happiness man.' Tacoma police caught him just a short while after Washington's Most Wanted aired," said David Rose, host of Washington's Most Wanted. "This is a great example of how quickly our law enforcement partners can act when our viewers give them the information they need to catch a dangerous fugitive."

Washington's Most Wanted launched in November of 2008 on Q13 FOX and continues to work in partnership with Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound and Pierce County. This weekly television show profiles some of the top fugitives in the Pacific Northwest and features a wide range of stories including murder suspects, cold cases, missing persons, sex crimes, bank robberies, cyber-crimes and neighborhood safety issues. Washington's Most Wanted also continues to work closely with all city, county, state and federal law enforcement agencies within the state of Washington.

"The success of Washington's Most Wanted is a testament to the natural synergy between our programming and local law enforcement agencies to bring suspects into custody," said Q13 FOX SVP and General Manager Pam Pearson. "Q13 FOX remains as always, committed to empowering our viewers with information to keep our communities safe and criminals off our street."

Washington's Most Wanted, hosted by Q13 FOX News Anchor David Rose, airs Fridays at 9:30pm on MyQ2 (KMYQ-TV, Channel 22, Cable 10) and Fridays and Saturdays at 10:30pm on Q13 FOX. Fugitive files and safety tips are also available online at Q13FOX.com.
